Welcome to the First Unitarian Church of Youngstown

"Our Mission is to build a diverse and transformative spiritual community, help people live lives of wholeness, and promote justice, peace, and religious freedom."

The First Unitarian Church is a member of the Unitarian Universalist Association. We are a vibrant, growing, liberal religious community located on the Northside of Youngstown. We work to build a truly diverse and inclusive community and welcome everyone to our service. We honor and celebrate our differences in age, race, gender, ethnicity, class and sexual orientation.

The Unitarian Universalist faith is one committed to religious freedom, respect for diversity and our responsibility to building a just world. We affirm the inherent worth of all people. We encourage our members to actively develop and explore their religious beliefs. We encourage a free and responsible search for religious truth and look to the wisdom found in many religious traditions as well contemporary experience to articulate our faith. We believe in the values of justice, compassion and peace and seek a world which lives these values. We understand that ultimately we live in a larger web of interdependence and that we are called to respect and protect the earth and the web of existence of which we are part.

We invite you to attend one of our services or programs to find out more about who we are and how we live our religious values.

Meet our interim minister, the Rev. Martha Munson

Religious Education
We will have three RE classes this church year.
--The Children's Chapel (kindergarten to 3rd grade) will follow the curriculum called "Spirit of Adventure" which is designed to help our youngsters learn specifically about our UU persons, practices, values and history.
-- The Chalice Class (4th to 7th grades) will follow "Travel in Time," which helps participants explore their religious identity. They learn about the origins of Unitarian Universalism in North America and about the lives of individuals who exemplify the faith.
--The Youth Group (8th grade and above) will be using "Thinking the Web, Unitarian Universalism and Controversial Moral Issue for High School." This program helps our youth investigate the political, constitutional and legal issues facing the United States.
